Tractor Seat Covers: Will One Fit a Grammer Seat and Stay Put?
Your tractor seat has split, or the last cover slid about or left you sweating by lunchtime. If the foam and suspension underneath are still sound, a cover is the quick fix: match a fitted cover to the seat model, or measure for a universal size.
The tractor seat cover range at PartsForMachines has 35 Town & Country covers, from universal sizes to covers cut for Grammer, KAB, classic John Deere and folding instructor seats.
Torn or Worn Seat: Cover It or Replace It?
Cover it if the seat still rides well and the foam holds its shape. A waterproof cover keeps mud, water and spills off the worn surface and stretches the life of an ageing seat.
Check the suspension before you decide, though. Seat suspensions need regular checks and maintenance, and a seat that bottoms out easily needs its suspension adjusted or repaired. If the seat is old or faulty, replace it. A cover protects the surface; it won’t rebuild collapsed foam or a worn suspension.
Will a Cover Fit My Grammer Seat?
Usually, yes. Grammer seats turn up on Fendt, John Deere, Massey Ferguson and New Holland tractors, and there are fitted covers for the Maximo, Maximo Dynamic Plus and Actimo. The T7BLK Grammer Maximo cover fits most versions of the Maximo seat, including the MSG95A/721 and MSG95A/731.
The Actimo and the Maximo Dynamic Plus each have a four-piece set with headrest and armrest covers (T8BLK and T9BLK). For other Grammer seats, check the end of the model number: 521 points to the standard universal cover, and 532 or 742 to the large one.
Will a Universal Cover Slip About on the Seat?
Not if it is the right size and made to grip. Size comes first: a seat with a base wider than 480mm needs a large universal cover such as the T2BLK, so measure the widest point instead of guessing.
Some universal high-back covers have elasticated edges that pull in under the seat pan, so the cover can’t creep up as you move, which helps on a suspension seat. If a loose cover has slipped before, a fitted cover is the surer fix: Town & Country cuts the T7BLK so it won’t slip or bunch.
Will a Waterproof Cover Make Me Sweat?
Not if it breathes. Comfort comes down to whether moisture can escape. A sealed layer traps sweat between you and the seat, so heat and damp can build up on a long sit, while breathable fabric lets that moisture move away.
Every cover in the range is 600-denier polyester on a waterproof polyurethane backing, resistant to oil and mud, with overlocked seams. Many are also breathable, including the large universal, the T10BLK and T2HBBLK high-back covers and both KAB covers. If you’re on the seat all day, especially in a cab that warms up behind glass, check the product page says breathable.
What Should I Check Before I Buy?
- the tractor make and model, plus the seat maker and model number if you can find it
- the seat size: the base at its widest point and the backrest height (a base over 480mm needs a large cover, and a backrest over 580mm a high-back one)
- any extra pieces you want, such as a headrest, armrest or lumbar cover
- a breathable cover, if you sit on the seat all day
- the foam, frame and suspension underneath, which need to be worth keeping

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the armrests and seat controls still work with a cover on?
Yes. Universal covers leave the armrests, seat adjusters, headrests and document pouches usable, and the fitted Grammer and KAB covers keep the seat adjusters within reach. Some covers, such as the T10BLK high-back cover, also cover the headrest.
Do I need a low-back or a high-back cover?
Measure the backrest. A base wider than 480mm with a backrest taller than 580mm needs a high-back cover such as the T2HBBLK, and Grammer Actimo-size seats suit the T10BLK. Otherwise, take the standard universal, or the large one for a base over 480mm.
I can’t find a model number on my seat: which cover do I need?
Measure the seat instead: the width of the base at its widest point and the height of the backrest decide the universal size. If you’re still unsure, send our team photos of the seat and any labels.
Is there a cover for the folding passenger or instructor seat?
Yes. The TFBLK instructor seat cover fits the folding seat in Case and New Holland cabs, and there are two-piece covers for John Deere and McCormick cabs. The seat spends much of its life folded, so the cover guards it against what gets stacked there.
Is there a cover for a KAB seat?
Yes. The AG4188 KAB SCIOX cover fits the SCIOX Base, Comfort, Premium+ and Super, with a separate lumbar cover for the part that wears first. The AG4195 suits the SCIOX Super High seat used in excavators and telehandlers.
Are there covers for classic John Deere tractors?
Yes. The T3LBLK wrap-around covers are cut for the classic 30 and 40 Series seats, a shape most universal covers don’t fit properly. A 30 Series seat can no longer simply be replaced, so keeping the original in good order matters.
How long will a tractor seat cover last?
They are made for daily work in heavy-duty 600-denier polyester with overlocked seams, and most carry a five-year warranty. How long one lasts in practice depends on the hours and conditions it sees.
Can I take the cover off to clean it?
Yes. Most covers fit without tools, so one can come off for cleaning between jobs or operators. A one-piece cover has nothing to line up when it goes back on, and a spare kept in the cab lets you swap a dirty cover mid-job.
Do the covers come in any colour other than black?
Most are black, but the standard and large universal covers also come in grey (TGRY and T2GRY). Grey shows dirt sooner, so it tells you the cover needs a clean before the seat underneath is affected.
