Compressor Losing Pressure or Washer Hose Leaking? Find the Spare

Compressor Losing Pressure or Washer Hose Leaking? Find the Spare

Your compressor runs and runs but never reaches cut-out, or your pressure washer hose or lance has started to leak.

Find the part that has failed, then match the spare to your machine's item number. PartsForMachines offers around 70 SIP workshop equipment spares, from a compressor service kit to pressure washer hoses and a replacement lance.

Why Does My Compressor Run Constantly but Not Reach Pressure?

Check for leaks before you blame the pump: a faulty safety valve or non-return valve can let air escape. Pull the safety valve's ring and let go: if air keeps escaping, replace the valve, and never tamper with it. If the tank loses pressure once the motor stops and the pressure switch keeps hissing, suspect a worn or dirty non-return valve.

If nothing leaks, look at the pump. A broken valve or a leaking gasket can cut its output, so pressure builds slowly or stays low. If a valve has failed, a service kit with a new valve plate may cure it, so have your compressor's item number ready.

How Do I Find the Right Spare for My Model?

Start with the item number on the rating plate or in the manual, not the range name, because many spares are made for specific models. The QT AIR DD service kit, for example, fits that range except the 6-litre 05398.

Washer spares work the same way: the WD02-01841 7.5m high pressure hose is made for the 08986 petrol washer. Compare your number with the compatible models shown on the product page. If nothing matches, send our team the number and a photo of the old part.

Does an Oil-Free Compressor Still Need Servicing?

Yes, on the QT AIR DD range at least: it is oil-free, yet SIP sets a pump service every 12 months or 1,000 working hours, whichever comes first. There is no oil to change; instead the valve plate, piston seals and air filters are renewed.

The AI01-00887 service kit holds the parts for one service: piston seals, a valve plate kit, air filters and cover bolts. Each kit services one motor pump unit, so count the units on your compressor and order one kit for each. Fit the parts as the maintenance schedule in the user manual describes; for any other model, follow its own manual.

Leaking Washer Hose or Lance: Can I Replace Just That Part?

Yes, if a spare is made for your washer: hoses and lances are sold separately, so a leak need not mean a new machine. Replace a damaged high-pressure hose rather than repairing it, because a leak at washer pressure can pierce skin and cause serious injury.

Choose a hose rated for at least your washer's maximum pressure, with a matching fitting. The 09067 10m pressure washer hose has a 1/4in connection, is rated to 250 bar and suits a range of TEMPEST and CW washers. For the 08954 hot water washer, the PW08-01267 replacement lance is made to fit.

What Should I Check Before I Order?

  • the item number from your machine's rating plate or manual
  • the compatible models shown on the spare's product page
  • for a compressor service kit, how many motor pump units your machine has
  • for washer hoses and accessories, the pressure rating and the fitting, such as 1/4in or M22
  • a clear photo of the worn part, in case our team needs to confirm the match

If you can't find a match, contact the PartsForMachines team by WhatsApp, telephone or email with the item number and a photo, or browse the SIP workshop equipment spares range.

Product options, delivery options and returns terms are shown on each product page. A 30-day return policy applies to eligible items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an old compressor worth repairing?

It can be, if the motor and tank are sound. A pump losing output may only need new valves or gaskets rather than a new machine. Send us the item number and a photo of the worn part to check which spares exist.

What rating should a replacement safety valve have?

The set pressure and thread specified for your compressor: check the old valve's markings or the manual. That pressure is preset by the maker and must never exceed the tank's design pressure. Never tamper with a safety valve; replace a faulty one.

What does a vario lance do?

It has an adjustable nozzle that changes the cleaning pressure, from a low-pressure spray to a high-pressure jet, so one lance can do both. Check the fitting suits your gun before you order one.

My pressure washer gun leaks inside the handle: can I replace just that part?

It depends on the gun. Send our team the washer's item number and a photo of the gun, including any markings on the handle, and we will check whether a matching seal or gun is available.

Which fitting do I need for a pressure washer accessory?

Check the thread and pressure rating against your washer. The 09090 rotary surface cleaner, for example, is rated to 210 bar and comes with an M22 adaptor to suit a wide range of washers. If your gun has a different connection, ask our team.

Can a pressure washer draw water from a butt or tank?

Some can. The 08901 suction kit lets the TP420/130 petrol washer (08912) draw from water butts, tanks or barrels, and its filter head helps keep debris out of the washer.

How often should I drain the compressor tank?

Regularly, because water collects in the tank and rusts it from inside. One regulator’s guidance, Safe Work Australia’s, is to drain it daily unless an automatic drain is fitted, typically when switching off at the end of the day.

Can I get service kits for diesel space heaters?

Yes, for the 50XD to 215XD diesel heaters: one service kit fits the two smallest and a second the four larger models. Heaters named XD first, such as the XD100, are not on either kit's list, so check your heater's item number first.
