Hydraulic Oil is the working fluid in any hydraulic system — telehandler booms, excavator arms, tractor hydraulics, log splitters, hydraulic presses, and the closed-circuit hydraulics on plant and agricultural machinery. Within Oil, this is the second-highest-demand sub-category, supporting fleet maintenance and major hydraulic-system rebuilds across the UK plant and agricultural sector. The right grade depends on three things: the manufacturer specification (Castrol AWS 46, for example, meets DIN 51524-2 HLP plus ISO 11158 HM, plus most plant-OEM approvals); the operating temperature range; and the system pressure.
For most agricultural and plant applications running at moderate temperatures, ISO VG 46 is the default — switch to VG 32 for cold-start applications or VG 68 for high-temperature continuous-duty.
