Measuring current draw from vehicle components without breaking into the circuit is a common challenge during automotive electrical diagnostics. The Sealey TA311 Current Clamp resolves this by clamping around a conductor or wire bundle and measuring both AC and DC current accurately without the need to disconnect anything. It offers two measurement ranges 40A and 400A making it suitable for both low-current sensors and higher-draw components such as starter motors or cooling fans. The 28mm clamp jaw is sized to accommodate wire bundles, and the unit connects to a standard multimeter via 4mm banana connectors (red and black). It can also be used with an oscilloscope using a suitable BNC conversion adaptor. Powered by a 9V battery (supplied), the TA311 features a red LED low battery indicator and is rated for operating temperatures between 0°C and 50°C. The unit weighs 240g and is supplied in a storage pouch. On the 40A range the output is 10mV/A, compatible with the 200mV or 400mV range of a multimeter. On the 400A range the output is 1mV/A, compatible with the 400mV range.
