Variations
Castrol Radicool in the 208-litre drum is supplied for workshop bulk service. It is a concentrated engine coolant for use in petrol and diesel engines with aluminium or cast-iron engine components — providing frost protection, corrosion protection and resistance to scale formation when mixed with water at the recommended dilution ratio.
The product is positioned for general automotive and light-commercial cooling-system service.
Approvals and performance levels include BS 6580:2010 (UK coolant specification). The product is tested to ASTM D3306; ASTM D1287; ASTM D1120; and ASTM D1177.
For single-vehicle service, Castrol Radicool is also available in a 20-litre pack (PRD00002615).
Always follow the engine manufacturer's coolant change interval, top-up procedure and disposal requirements. Used coolant is classified as hazardous waste under UK regulations and should be disposed of via an authorised waste contractor — not poured to drain. Store coolant concentrate sealed in the original packaging, at moderate temperatures and away from direct sunlight.
Castrol Radicool NF is an antifreeze concentrate formulated using monoethylene glycol and selected additives, free from nitrite, amine and phosphate inhibitors. It uses hybrid technology for the modern performance engines of cars and trucks. This coolant should be used at concentrations of between 33 % and 50% dilution with purified water to give optimum corrosion protection and freezing protection between -18°C and -36°C.

A. Both are Castrol Radicool antifreeze coolant concentrates. Radicool (this product) is the mainstream concentrated coolant meeting BS 6580. Radicool SF is the G12+-class silicate-free OAT long-life coolant for extended-service-interval commercial vehicle and modern engine applications.
A. Coolants of different chemistries (IAT, hybrid silicate, OAT, HOAT) should not be mixed — mixing different inhibitor packages can degrade corrosion protection and form gels or precipitates. Always drain and flush the cooling system when changing coolant type, and refill with the type specified by the engine manufacturer.
A. BS 6580 (UK) and ASTM D3306 (US) are the universal coolant performance standards every reputable coolant meets. They are your baseline check — match the standard your handbook specifies and the coolant is technically suitable for your system.
