Cylinder honing demands the correct abrasive at every stage of the process. When a bore requires aggressive material removal — whether correcting uneven wear or preparing a surface prior to final finishing — a coarse grit stone is the appropriate starting point. The Sykes Pickavant 02810300 Coarse Stone Set is designed specifically for use with the Sykes Pickavant 02810000 Cylinder Honing Set, which covers cylinder bores from 50 to 180 mm.
The stone set provides the abrasive elements required to mount within the 02810000 honing tool, enabling the user to carry out coarse honing passes on cylinder walls. The 100 grit rating classifies these as coarse stones, suited to initial material removal and surface correction.
Each set contains three 100 mm stones and three replacement cotter pins. The cotter pins secure the stones within the honing head during operation, and the inclusion of replacement pins ensures continued serviceability of the tool. The stone set is supplied in packaging measuring 180 x 80 x 180 mm and weighs 0.09 kg.
Two further stone sets are available for the 02810000 Cylinder Honing Set: the 02810100 Fine Stone Set and the 02810200 Medium Stone Set. Using all three grades in sequence allows the full honing process to be completed from coarse stock removal through to a fine surface finish.
Purchasing stone sets as separate consumables extends the working life of the 02810000 honing tool without requiring replacement of the complete kit.
