Shell Gadus S3 Wirerope A (formerly Shell ROV Cable Grease) is a heavy-duty water-resistant wire-cable lubricant specifically formulated for steel wire ropes. The product penetrates between the rope strands to lubricate the wire-on-wire contact inside the rope while providing corrosion protection — both critical to wire-rope service life.
The product is positioned for marine wire ropes, crane ropes, mining ropes and other heavy-duty wire-cable applications where water resistance and penetration into the rope structure are required.
Approvals and performance levels include ASTM D1264 (water washout); and the heritage Shell ROV cable grease specification.
As with all greases, follow the equipment manufacturer's regreasing schedule and avoid mixing with greases of incompatible thickener type — incompatible thickeners can cause softening, hardening or separation of the grease in service. Store greases sealed in the original packaging, at moderate temperatures and away from direct sunlight, to preserve consistency and additive performance.
Shell Gadus S3 Wirerope A Grease is a lithium / calcium complex grease based on a high viscous mineral oil containing anti-oxidants and corrosion inhibitors. The grease has a special design with a unique load carrying capacity, where the EP and wear preventing components have been incorporated into the thickening agent.
