Oil FinderFuel gums clogging piston rings cause compression loss, increased oil consumption through blow-by and elevated tailpipe emissions. BG EPR® Engine Performance Restoration® (109E, 325ml) softens, emulsifies and dissolves even the most stubborn of these deposits, restoring compression and reducing oil consumption without engine disassembly. Also cleans micro passageways in valve train actuators and turbochargers. Recommended for use in HEV engines and engines fitted with GPF.
BG EPR® restores the critical hydraulic function of components such as valve train actuators and turbochargers by cleaning micro passageways blocked by deposits. Properly sealed combustion chambers improve compression and reduce oil dilution through blow-by, restoring fuel economy and power. The formula is harmless to seals and engine components, and is recommended for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and engines fitted with gasoline particulate filters (GPFs).
Add to engine oil before an oil change for maximum effect. The 325ml size is suited to a single engine treatment or lightly used fleet applications. Also available in 177ml (SKU: 1096) and 946ml (SKU: 10932) for bulk workshop use.

A. BG EPR (Engine Performance Restoration) dissolves fuel-gum deposits clogging piston rings, restoring compression and reducing oil consumption. The 325ml bottle (109E) suits larger crankcases or two passenger-car treatments. Smaller: 1096 (177ml). Workshop: 10932 (946ml).
A. Add 100ml per 2–3 litres of crankcase oil before a planned oil change. Run engine at operating temperature for 10 minutes at 1,200 RPM (20 minutes for GDI petrol or small diesel), then drain and refit new oil and filter.
A. Yes. High-mileage engines benefit most, as piston-ring deposit build-up is most likely to have accumulated and to be the cause of compression loss and oil consumption.
A. If the cause is piston-ring deposits letting combustion gas blow past the rings, BG EPR can resolve it by restoring ring seal. Mechanical wear of rings or bores cannot be compensated chemically.
A. Yes. BG EPR is safe for use in petrol, diesel and rotary engines.
A. Yes. BG EPR cleans the micro oil passageways that lubricate turbochargers and is recommended for engines with diesel or petrol particulate filters (DPFs/GPFs) and for hybrid electric vehicles.
A. Yes. BG EPR is harmless to seals and other engine components — it restores ring function without attacking elastomers elsewhere in the engine.
A. No. BG EPR is added to the existing oil and works during a short final run. The loosened deposits leave the engine when the oil and filter are drained — fresh oil and filter must follow.
A. BG EPR targets fuel-gum deposits on piston rings via the oil. BG Engine Purge targets sludge in the oil galleries. They address different deposits and are often combined in a full engine service.
A. No. BG advises against EPR on sludged engines. For sludge, use BG Engine Purge (12032E) first to clean the oil galleries, then follow with BG EPR for ring deposits.
