Shell Gadus S3 V220C 2 (formerly Shell Albida Grease EP 2, Shell Retinax LX 2, Darina XL EP 2 and Rotella HD) is a premium multi-purpose extreme-pressure grease offering extra protection and high-temperature performance. The lithium-complex thickener gives a higher dropping point and improved high-temperature operation compared to standard lithium-soap greases.
The product is positioned for industrial and automotive bearings operating at sustained elevated temperatures, and is one of the most widely specified premium greases in the Shell range. The NLGI 2 consistency is the standard bearing-grade grease consistency.
Approvals and performance levels include ASTM D4950 (automotive grease classification) testing within the standard NLGI 2 lithium-complex premium EP grease class.
Shell Gadus S3 V220C 2 is also available in a 50kg keg (PRD00004063) for workshop bulk supply.
Gadus S3 V220C 2 is a multi-purpose high-performance greases based on mineral oil and a lithium-complex soap. It is formulated to provide excellent high-temperature lubrication performance. It possesses EP load-carrying properties and contain additives selected to enhance oxidation, corrosion and wear resistance. This grease is also suited for bearing lubrication under highly loaded and vibratory conditions - such as in steel mills, railway axle-boxes and construction equipment. The long service-life potential of the grease at temperatures over 100 °C makes it ideally suited to machines in which poor accessibility makes frequent regreasing difficult
