A hose joint that needs constant nipping up is telling you the clip, not the hose, is past it.
Sized to adjust between 25-35mm, the HGZ35RP carries the construction details Hi-Grip is specified for - rolled screw threads on a cold-headed, work-hardened hex head, fully rounded band edges, and a published tightening torque of 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in) for this size band. The range is made to exceed BS5315 and holds the BSI Kitemark and NATO approval.
Uniquely, JCS applies the zinc plating after the steel is cut, so even the cut edges of the band are coated. That makes it a dependable general purpose clip for domestic, automotive and industrial use in non-corrosive conditions. Size it by the fitted outside diameter of the hose, and recheck after sustained vibration - the 10-clip pack keeps spares on hand for the next service.

A. It adjusts between 25-35mm. Measure the outside diameter of your hose when fitted over its pipe or fitting - if that measurement falls within 25-35mm, this clip fits. JCS clips offer a larger adjustment range per size than typical nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 1 to 1 3/8 in, covering common 1 and 1 1/4 in hose sizes.
A. For this size band JCS publishes a recommended torque of 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in). Work up to it gradually with the clip seated centrally on the barb; going past it risks damaging the hose rather than improving the seal.
A. JCS advises against zinc plated clips in marine conditions, where they can corrode or seize. For boats and other saltwater environments use Hi-Grip Stainless, which is 18/8 marine-quality 304 stainless steel with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.

A. Start from the application, as JCS's own guidance does: what the hose carries, the temperature and pressure involved, and whether the environment is corrosive. Dry, general duty points to this zinc plated clip; wet, salty or chemical exposure points to the stainless range. Then size by the fitted hose diameter.
A. JCS designs against it: the hex screw is cold-headed and work-hardened with rolled threads, so it holds its setting and will not round off. On high-vibration equipment, JCS's guidance is to recheck the clip after service to keep the seal intact.
