The Draper 60988 Variable Speed Mini Wood Lathe addresses this by delivering a continuously variable speed range of 750–3,200 rpm from its 250W motor, allowing the operator to match rotational speed precisely to the timber, profile, and cutting tool in use. The lathe is built around a heavy-duty cast iron bed that damps vibration during operation, maintaining accuracy and reducing operator fatigue over extended sessions. A no-volt overload safety switch is fitted as standard, cutting power in the event of a supply interruption to prevent uncontrolled restart. Turning capacity covers a 200mm diameter swing over bed and a 300mm centre-to-centre distance, making the machine well suited to small to medium woodturning projects on the workbench. The spindle carries an MT1 taper and a 3/4" thread. The lathe weighs 21kg. Supplied accessories include 50mm and 150mm face plates, a 175mm tool rest, and a 3/4" drive spur, enabling a range of faceplate and between-centres turning operations straight from the box.
