HEPA filtration captures particles down to 0.3 microns at 99.97% efficiency — essential for hardwood dust (oak, beech, mahogany — classified as carcinogenic), MDF and chipboard dust (formaldehyde-binder dust is hazardous), and any fine respirable particulate. Standard bag filtration captures dust down to typically 5-10 microns — sufficient for softwood dust and coarse sander/saw debris, but lets fine particulate pass back into the workshop air.
