Exocet OctiMax is an octane booster for unleaded petrol, supplied here in the 100ml pack. It is aimed at high compression ratio, high performance engines, including older engines specified on the former 5-star fuel.
Octane measures petrol's resistance to knocking, also called pinking. Knock happens when the fuel and air mixture ignites under compression away from the flame front started by the spark plug, and the sound is the shock waves as the two burning zones collide. It can come from high compression pistons, from combustion chamber and piston crown deposits in older engines, or from ignition timing that is too advanced. Raising octane often reduces it. OctiMax boosts 95 RON regular petrol to 97, and 97 RON to 99, improving acceleration and smoothing power delivery. The problem is common in engines with a high compression ratio, and particularly in those originally specified on the old 5-star fuel, where current pump octane sits below what the engine was designed around.
Dose at 1 litre to 2,000 litres of unleaded petrol. Use it where better power delivery is required, where the vehicle expects high octane fuel, or where knocking or pinking is already a problem.
