A. BG 4073 (89ml aerosol) cleans contamination off the hot-wire and plastic elements of mass air flow (MAF) sensors without disassembly. Restores sensor accuracy and the engine fuelling and performance that depend on it.
A. With the engine off, remove the MAF sensor from the intake duct. Spray BG 4073 directly onto the sensor elements per the can directions. Allow to dry fully before reinstalling. Do not touch the sensor wires.
A. Symptoms include long-term fuel-trim drift, intermittent rough idle, hesitation under load, reduced fuel economy, or a MAF-related diagnostic trouble code. Cleaning is the first step before considering replacement.
A. Yes. BG 4073 is specifically formulated to clean hot wires, plastics, rubber and associated MAF sensor materials without damage. Generic carburettor or throttle-body cleaners are not safe for MAF sensors.
A. No — use BG 406 for throttle bodies and BG 4073 for MAF sensors. The formulations and applications are different. Using MAF cleaner on a throttle body is wasteful; using throttle-body cleaner on a MAF damages it.
A. Yes — MAF contamination typically returns over time, especially with aftermarket oil-treated air filters that contaminate the sensor. Re-clean periodically; if cleaning no longer restores function, the sensor itself has failed.
