A. BG 260 (260E) removes sticky heavy deposits from the backs of intake valves and from the air intake of petrol direct injection (GDI) and port fuel injection (PFI) petrol engines.
A. GDI engines inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber, so detergent-bearing fuel never washes over the back of the intake valve. Carbon builds up over time, causing rough running, misfires and power loss — chemical cleaning is the standard remedy.
A. BG 260 is applied directly into the intake while the engine runs, typically via the BG petrol air induction service tool (PAIS) or AIS/GDI nozzle (9209). It is not added to the fuel tank.
A. BG 260 is intended for use with BG induction service equipment — primarily a workshop product rather than a fuel-tank additive. For a DIY tank-treatment alternative, BG 44K (208 family) addresses fuel-side deposits.
A. Yes. BG 260 is safe for oxygen sensors and catalytic converters and is compatible with all standard fuel-system components when used as directed.
A. If the misfire is caused by carbon build-up on intake valves (a very common GDI fault), yes. Mechanical misfires (worn injectors, coil packs, spark plugs, compression) are not chemical problems and require diagnosis.
