A. A high-performance glycol-ether DOT 5.1 brake fluid that meets or exceeds FMVSS 116 DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5.1 specifications. Higher boiling points than DOT 4 — minimum 270°C dry boiling point.
A. Where the vehicle manufacturer specifies DOT 5.1, or where higher boiling-point fluid is desired for high-performance, towing or hard-driven applications. Check vehicle handbook before changing fluid spec.
A. Yes. BG DOT 5.1 is glycol-ether based (same chemistry as DOT 3/4) and fully compatible. WARNING: DOT 5 (silicone-based) is a different fluid type and NOT compatible — do not confuse with DOT 5.1.
A. Most manufacturers specify brake fluid replacement every 2 years regardless of mileage. Brake fluid is hygroscopic — it absorbs water from the atmosphere, which lowers boiling point and causes corrosion in the brake system.
A. Yes. BG DOT 5.1 is fully compatible with modern brake systems including ABS, ESP, traction control and electronic brake assistance.
A. For most passenger-car brake systems, 1 litre is sufficient for a full brake fluid flush. For larger commercial vehicles or motorcycles with separate front/rear circuits, plan for 1.5–2 litres total fluid.
A. DOT 5.1's higher boiling point provides more consistent pedal feel under heavy braking. Day-to-day pedal feel is similar to DOT 4. The benefit appears under sustained heavy braking where DOT 4 would otherwise vaporise.
A. Every product comes with a different guarantee and warranty. Warranty details are shown in the product's tech specs or datasheet where available.
