Mid-size hatches, covers and access panels are the typical home for the Metrol NS-V-8-180. A variable force gas strut with a 180mm stroke and a 410mm extended length. Rather than a fixed factory setting, its force is adjustable across 50–650N and tuned to the load on setup; the 33% progression across the stroke keeps motion smooth from closed to fully open. Built on a 8mm QPQ rod in a 18mm powder-coated body, it carries panel weights of 6–35kg per balanced pair and operates across −30°C to +80°C, supplied at maximum force unless otherwise specified. It is used on equipment covers, storage-box lids, machine guards, fold-down benches and other lift-and-hold panels. A threaded end fitting screws onto the rod while a mounting bracket carries the body end, and struts are fitted in pairs for an even, two-sided action that stays put when released. Within the range, its nearest stroke options are NS-V-8-150 and NS-V-8-200; the MLT-8-180 locking tube holds it open; the MPT-8-180 tube shields the rod. Every strut is guaranteed for two years, and custom strokes and forces are available on request.
