Variations
Mounting a gas strut to a frame or panel starts with the right bracket. The Metrol BRK-4A is a Steel circular mounting bracket with 41mm fixing centres, carrying a 13mm ball stud. It fixes to the structure through its mounting holes and presents the ball stud for the strut's end fitting, locating the strut at the correct angle and centre; bolt it down first, then locate the strut on the stud. It mounts gas struts with a 8, 10 & 14mm rod and accepts B9-B12 ball joints. Its straight, stud-up form bolts to a flat face and presents the stud upright for the strut. Brackets in the range present the ball stud for the strut's end fitting at different angles and centres, so the bracket is chosen to suit how the strut meets the structure. It is used on serving flaps, cabinet lids, access panels, inspection hatches and similar assemblies, with one bracket at every strut mounting point and a matching opposite-hand part where the geometry is mirrored. A complete mounting also needs the end fitting that matches the strut rod, fixed to a face strong enough to take the strut's force. For your layout, a stainless steel version is available as SSBRK-4A.
