Mounting a gas strut to a frame or panel starts with the right bracket. The Metrol BRK-7A is a Steel triangular mounting bracket with 55mm fixing centres, carrying a 13mm ball stud. It fixes to the structure through its mounting holes and presents the ball stud for the strut's end fitting, locating the strut at the correct angle and centre; bolt it down first, then locate the strut on the stud. It mounts gas struts with a 8, 10 & 14mm rod and accepts B9-B12 ball joints. Its straight, stud-up form bolts to a flat face and presents the stud upright for the strut. It is one of a range of mounting brackets that give a gas strut a fixing point on a frame or panel, and the right one matches the ball stud to the chosen fitting while sitting at the angle the layout needs. Typical applications include inspection hatches, equipment covers, storage-box lids, machine guards, where the strut meets a flat face or an edge. Fit one bracket at each end of every strut, and use the opposite-hand version where the second mounting faces the other way. For a complete mounting, choose a ball joint or eye to suit the strut rod and fix the bracket to solid material that can carry the load. For your layout, a stainless steel version is available as SSBRK-7A.
