Larger panels that swing through a wide arc need a longer reach, which is where the Metrol NS-V-10-400 fits. A variable force gas strut with a 400mm stroke extending to 850mm. Rather than a fixed factory setting, its force is adjustable across 70–1200N and tuned to the load on setup; the 39% progression across the stroke keeps motion smooth from closed to fully open. Built on a 10mm QPQ rod in a 21mm powder-coated body, it carries panel weights of 25–140kg per balanced pair and operates across −30°C to +80°C, supplied at maximum force unless otherwise specified. It is used on machine guards, fold-down benches, worktop flaps, toolbox lids and other lift-and-hold panels. A threaded end fitting screws onto the rod while a mounting bracket carries the body end, and struts are fitted in pairs for an even, two-sided action that stays put when released. Within the range, its nearest stroke options are NS-V-10-350 and NS-V-10-500; the MLT-10-400 locking tube holds it open; the MPT-10-400 tube shields the rod; a 316 stainless equivalent is available as NS-SS-V-10-400. Every strut is guaranteed for two years, and custom strokes and forces are available on request.
