Variations
A leaking hose joint on a mower, compressor or van engine usually traces back to one part - the clip that stopped gripping.
The HGZ22PM1 is a Hi-Grip worm drive clip adjusting between 14-22mm. Its band edges are fully rounded to protect the hose, and the hex screw is cold-headed and work-hardened with rolled threads, so it resists slipping or rounding under the driver. Tighten incrementally to the recommended 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in); over-tightening is what damages hoses. The range is manufactured to exceed BS5315 and carries the BSI Kitemark and NATO approval.
Zinc plated for general purpose service, this clip is the everyday choice for automotive, domestic and industrial hose joints in non-corrosive conditions; for persistently wet or salty duty JCS points buyers to its stainless range instead. Size by the fitted outside diameter of the hose and tighten in stages. A 5-pack suits a multi-point job or the van stock bin.

A. It adjusts between 14-22mm. Measure the outside diameter of your hose when fitted over its pipe or fitting - if that measurement falls within 14-22mm, this clip fits. JCS clips offer a larger adjustment range per size than typical nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 9/16 to 7/8 in, covering common 5/8 and 3/4 in hose sizes.
A. JCS recommends 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in) for this size. Position the clip centrally over the hose barb and tighten incrementally to that torque - over-tightening can damage the hose.
A. JCS electro zinc plates and passivates the mild steel band after it is cut to size, so even the cut edges carry coating - and the finish is tested to EN9227. That suits dry and general duty; once salt or standing moisture is involved, the stainless range is the correct specification.
A. No - JCS itself cautions that zinc-coated clamps can quickly corrode or seize around salt water. The marine specification is Hi-Grip Stainless: 18/8 304 stainless throughout, with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.
