Variations
When a coolant or air line starts seeping where it meets the fitting, the fix is rarely a new hose - it is a clip that holds its clamping force.
Worm drive clips seal by drawing the band evenly through a captive screw housing, and the HGZ20PM1 adds the JCS details that make that reliable - a 13-20mm adjustment span, a cold-headed, work-hardened hex screw with rolled threads that will not round off, and fully rounded band edges. Recommended tightening torque for this size is 3.0 Nm (26 lb-in). Manufactured to exceed BS5315, Kitemarked and NATO approved.
The band is mild steel, heavily electro zinc plated, passivated and tested to EN9227 - JCS's general purpose specification for domestic, automotive and industrial duty away from salt and standing moisture. One clip covers a wider span than a typical nut-and-bolt clamp, so fewer sizes cover more hoses. Seat it centrally over the barb when fitting.

A. This size spans 13-20mm of fitted hose outside diameter. Measure the hose over its fitting, not the bare bore - anywhere inside 13-20mm and the HGZ20PM1 is the right clip. One JCS size covers a span that would take two fixed nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 1/2 to 13/16 in, covering common 5/8 and 3/4 in hose sizes.
A. For this size band JCS publishes a recommended torque of 3.0 Nm (26 lb-in). Work up to it gradually with the clip seated centrally on the barb; going past it risks damaging the hose rather than improving the seal.
A. JCS advises against zinc plated clips in marine conditions, where they can corrode or seize. For boats and other saltwater environments use Hi-Grip Stainless, which is 18/8 marine-quality 304 stainless steel with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.
