The SIP 01730 5.5" Quick Lock Machine Vice is a heavy-duty workholding solution with a 140mm jaw width and 20kN clamping force, designed to secure workpieces quickly and efficiently during machining in professional metalwork and fabrication environments.
Constructed from a grey cast iron body with quenched and tempered structural steel jaws, the vice offers the rigidity and wear resistance demanded by production and engineering workshops. The Quick Lock sliding mechanism allows the vice to be positioned rapidly against the workpiece, reducing set-up time during machining runs and changeovers. A slotted fixed base — measuring 430mm x 240mm with 14mm mounting holes — allows the unit to be secured directly to the drill press table, maintaining drilling accuracy and operator safety. Parallelism is rated at 0.05mm per 100mm, reflecting the precision expected of a machine vice in close-tolerance applications.
With a jaw opening of 140mm and jaw depth of 51mm at a working height of 81mm, the 01730 is suited to drilling ferrous and non-ferrous metals including mild steel, aluminium, copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron and wrought iron.
