The SIP 01729 6" Swivel Machine Vice is a heavy-duty workshop vice with a 152mm jaw width and 25kN clamping force, designed to reduce set-up time, maintain drilling accuracy and improve tool access during professional metalworking and fabrication operations.
Constructed from grey cast iron throughout the body with hardened tool steel jaws, the vice is built to withstand the rigours of sustained industrial use. Its defining feature is the full 0° to 360° horizontal swivel base, which allows workpieces to be repositioned without unclamping — preserving alignment and eliminating the need to re-indicate between operations. An integral angle gauge supports precise set-up for complex and repetitive machining tasks.
With a jaw opening of 6" (152mm), jaw depth of 2" (51mm) and a vice height of 152mm, the unit accommodates a broad range of workpiece geometries. The base measures 11.5" (292mm) x 8.4" (214mm) with 18mm mounting holes for secure bench or table fixing, and the parallelism accuracy is rated at 0.05mm per 100mm. Suitable applications include drilling ferrous and non-ferrous metals — mild steel, aluminium, copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron and wrought iron — as well as milling, grinding, slotting and light machining operations in general engineering, metal fabrication and production assembly environments.
This vice is compatible with the SIP F25-GB 8-Speed Industrial Floor Pillar Drill (01719), the SIP F32-ID Vari-Speed Industrial Floor Pillar Drill (01720) and the SIP F40-IDA Vari-Speed Industrial Floor Pillar Drill (01721).
