The SIP 01944 Bench Morticer with Sliding Table is a 370W, 230V bench-mounted woodworking machine designed to cut square or rectangular holes into timber for joinery, cabinet making, furniture making and a wide range of DIY and hobbyist projects. With a morticing capacity of 6mm to 16mm and a maximum chisel stroke of 130mm, it delivers reliable, repeatable results across demanding workshop tasks.
Built from heavy-duty cast iron, the machine is engineered for durability and stability under sustained use. A heavy-duty clamp keeps workpieces secure throughout each cut, while the integrated NVR (No-Volt Release) switch provides an important additional layer of operator safety. The 180mm x 157mm work table accommodates larger and irregular timber sections, and the sliding table offers versatile longitudinal and lateral movement — 100mm left-right and 40mm back-front — enabling accurate, consistent positioning of the workpiece.
The SIP 01944 also doubles as a bench-mounted pillar drill. By substituting a morticing chisel for a drill bit (3mm minimum to 13mm maximum; drill bits not supplied), the machine provides expanded woodworking capability without requiring a separate machine. The 13mm chuck capacity and 1400rpm motor speed support this secondary function effectively. The morticer is suited to furniture including tables, chairs, cabinets and wardrobes, as well as hinges, handle systems, doors, window frames, beams, posts, fencing and railings.
