The SIP 01936 Variable Speed Midi Wood Lathe is a robust and reliable machine tool designed for woodturning, offering the accuracy to shape, turn, drill and sand workpieces to the desired specification. Running on a 230V (13A) single-phase supply, it is well suited to professional and serious workshop use where consistent, repeatable results are required.
The lathe is built around a heavy-duty cast iron bed that ensures maximum turning stability, supporting a cast iron headstock and cast iron tailstock — both fitted with MT1 tapers for an assured hold on the workpiece. An electronic variable speed motor rated at 550W (0.75hp) drives the headstock spindle across a speed range of 500rpm to 3500rpm, adjusted via a control dial for precise speed selection. A digital speedometer display provides an accurate readout of headstock spindle speed at all times. The 3/4 x 16TPI spindle thread size allows the use of various turning attachments, while a thermal cut-off switch provides improved safety during operation.
With a turning capacity of 305mm (12") and a distance between centres of 432mm (17"), the SIP 01936 is well matched to turning lace bobbins, small bowl turning, drilling and sanding across both soft and hard woods.
The SIP 01936 is supplied complete with a tool rest, 100mm faceplate, 4-prong drive centre and revolving tailstock centre, providing the core tooling required to begin work immediately. The machine carries the SIP 2-Year Standard Silver Warranty.
