The SIP 01940 is a 14" x 43" Swivel Head Wood Lathe designed for woodturners seeking a robust and adaptable machine capable of accurately shaping, turning, drilling and sanding workpieces to a precise specification. Running from a 230V single-phase supply, the 750W (1hp) variable speed motor delivers a speed range of 500rpm to 2000rpm, with an easy-change speed handle offering 10 settings and a digital speedometer display providing an accurate readout of headstock spindle speed at all times.
The headstock features a 360° swivel action with four locking positions, allowing outboard turning of larger wood materials with confidence. The lathe bed, headstock, tailstock and legs are all manufactured from heavy-duty cast iron, maximising rigidity and eliminating bed flex during operation. The headstock is fitted with an MT1 Morse Taper and the tailstock with an MT2 Morse Taper, ensuring an assured hold to the workpiece. A hollow tailstock design allows long-hole boring for added versatility, while the 3/4" x 16TPI spindle thread accommodates a wide range of turning attachments.
With a 350mm (14") turning capacity and 1100mm (43") between centres, the 01940 is equally suited to soft and hard woods, making it ideal for furniture legs, staircase spindles and bespoke woodwork projects. The spindle through hole measures 10mm on both drive and tailstock sides. Noise output is rated at 68dB(A). Net weight is 130kg and the machine dimensions are 1600(H) x 1160(W) x 450mm(D).
The lathe is supplied with a tool rest, 6" faceplate, drive centre and tailstock centre. It is backed by the SIP 2-Year Standard Silver Warranty and is manufactured to a professional finish throughout.
