Restoring or cutting coarse internal threads demands accurate, reliable tooling — the Draper 83798 Coarse Hand Taps Taper and Plug set is manufactured from high carbon steel with accurately cut threads to deliver consistent results in metalworking and repair applications. The set includes one taper tap and one plug (bottoming) tap providing the two principal stages of hand tapping: the taper tap starts the thread cleanly in a pre-drilled hole while the plug tap completes and deepens the thread towards the base of the hole. The thread pitch is 1.25 mm sized for a 5 mm thread diameter. Both taps are supplied together on a display card making the set straightforward to store and identify in a busy workshop environment. The high carbon steel construction supports accurate thread cutting in a range of common workshop materials. This set is suited to trade and professional users carrying out thread cutting or thread repair work where a 5 mm coarse thread form is required.
