Cutting large-diameter cables demands a tool engineered for both capacity and control. The KNIPEX 95 12 225 StepCut® XL cable shears address this with a high-leverage bolted joint, long handles, and optimised cutting edges that deliver noticeably easier cutting than compact cable shears — making them a capable choice for electricians and cable installers working with substantial conductor sizes. The tool features dual cutting areas that work in combination. The stepped cutting edge holds small and larger cables close to the joint during the cut, whilst the front cutting edge tackles very large cables step by step. This design supports easy one- or two-handed operation with a minimum handle opening even for large cable diameters. The slim head improves accessibility in confined spaces, and a pinch guard prevents fingers being caught during operation. Cutting capacity covers solid copper or aluminium cables up to 35 mm², stranded cables up to 70 mm², and fine stranded cables up to 120 mm². Cutting edges are additionally laser-hardened to approximately 56 HRC for sustained edge retention. The adjustable, high-leverage bolted joint provides precise and smooth cutting throughout the tool's service life. Comfort handles consist of three ergonomic components for optimised handling and are equipped with two KNIPEXtend interfaces for use with compatible extensions. Please note: these shears are not suitable for steel-reinforced cables such as ACSR. Supplied as a single unit.
