The SIP 01558 10" x 5" Planer Thicknesser is a 230V single-phase machine powered by a 1.5kW (2hp) motor, designed for efficient planing and trimming of workpieces to uniform thicknesses and widths. Capable of removing large amounts of material in a single pass, it ensures consistency across boards, planks, and surfaces in professional workshop environments.
The machine features machine-surfaced cast aluminium tables measuring 920mm in length and 355mm in height, delivering accurate planing of larger timber. Power-fed rollers provide consistently high performance and a smooth finish, while the adjustable fence tilts between 90° and 135°, making the unit suitable for both square and chamfered planing. An integrated NVR switch and fitted safety interlock switches contribute to safe operation throughout the working day.
With a planer width of 252mm and a maximum cutting depth of 2.5mm for planing and 2mm for thicknessing, the 01558 handles timber sizes ranging from 5mm to 120mm in thickness, up to 252mm wide. The cutter block operates at 9,000rpm. A built-in dust extraction port is provided, with an outlet of 55mm ID / 62mm OD and an expander adaptor of 63mm ID / 68mm OD. Note that operation requires an attached dust extractor; SIP recommend either the SIP 50ltr Dust & Chip Collector (01923) or the SIP 1hp Portable Single Bag Dust Collector (01963).
This planer thicknesser is supplied with a SIP 2-Year Standard Silver Warranty. The SIP 01558 is manufactured in China.
