The SIP 01557 8" x 5" Planer Thicknesser is a 1.5kW (2hp), 230V machine designed for efficient planing and trimming of workpieces to uniform thicknesses and width, comfortably removing large amounts of material in a single pass to ensure that all boards, planks and surfaces are consistent. With a planer width of 204mm and a timber size range of 5mm to 120mm, it is well suited to a wide variety of dimensioning tasks in the joinery workshop or trade setting.
The machine features machine-surfaced cast aluminium tables for accurate planing of larger timber, while power-fed rollers deliver a consistently high performance and a smooth finish across the workpiece. The fence tilts between 90° and 135°, making the 01557 equally capable of square and chamfered planing. A maximum cutting depth of 2.5mm on the planer function and 2mm on the thicknessing function allows confident material removal, and the cutter block runs at 9000rpm. For operator safety, the unit is fitted with reliable safety interlock switches and an integrated NVR (No-Volt Release) switch.
The 01557 incorporates a built-in dust extraction port and expander adaptor. The dust extraction outlet measures 55mm ID / 62mm OD, with an adaptor sized 63mm ID / 68mm OD.
