Accurate measurement of environmental and workplace noise demands an instrument that adapts to the character of the sound being assessed. The Laserliner 082.070A SoundTest-Master addresses this by incorporating frequency weighting filters that operate to both dB(A) and dB(C) standard curves, with a selectable choice of fast or slow time weighting factors to allow optimum adaptation to noise dynamics across a wide range of measurement scenarios. At the heart of the instrument is an electret condenser microphone capable of measuring sound pressure level across a frequency range of 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz. A selectable analogue indicator provides a visual assessment of the test area alongside the illuminated real-time display, while a timestamp function supports accurate record-keeping. Data capture is handled either via the on-board memory, which stores up to 16,000 measurements, or through real-time logging on a PC using the supplied software via the opto-isolated RS232 port. Calibration and adjustment is performed using a standard 94 dB / 1 kHz noise level calibrator. Analogue DC and AC outputs are provided for integration with external recording equipment. The instrument is powered by six 1.5 V LR03 (AAA) batteries and measures 35 mm x 80 mm x 245 mm, weighing 350 g. Supplied as a complete kit including software, USB cable, batteries, and a carrying case, the Laserliner 082.070A SoundTest-Master is ready for immediate deployment in professional workshop, occupational hygiene, and industrial measurement environments.
