Moisture damage in wood and building materials often goes undetected until it becomes a costly structural problem. The Laserliner 082.332E MoistureFinder Compact provides damage-free capacitive measurement of moisture content across four selectable material modes: softwood (e.g. spruce, pine), hardwood (e.g. beech, oak), cement screed, and plaster — enabling accurate, non-invasive assessment without drilling or cutting into the substrate. The device displays moisture readings via a twelve-LED wet/dry colour indicator, giving the user immediate visual feedback on the degree of moisture or dryness in the material under inspection. Where wet material is detected, an additional acoustic alarm alerts the user, reducing the risk of a reading being missed in busy site conditions. The hold function retains the last measured value at the press of a button, allowing readings to be recorded without the display resetting. Measuring ranges are clearly defined by material: softwood 6.7%–51.4%, hardwood 3.8%–31.6%, cement screed 0%–5%, and plaster 0%–23.5%, with an absolute accuracy of ±2% for wood and ±0.2% for building materials. Power is supplied by a single 9V 6LR61 block battery, which is included in the supply. The instrument switches off automatically after three minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. The housing is largely constructed from recycled material, supporting sustainability objectives on site or in the workshop. Supplied complete with one battery, the MoistureFinder Compact is ready to use directly from the box.
