The Sykes Pickavant 12731100 Forcing Screw allows any Sykes Pickavant Hub Puller to be converted from hydraulic to mechanical operation by replacing the hydraulic ram or slide hammer with this screw-action component.
The forcing screw uses a 1 1/2 inch BSW thread, the standard interface size on the Sykes Pickavant hub puller range, and fits directly into the puller frame in place of the hydraulic ram. Once installed, the puller is operated by turning the forcing screw rather than activating the hydraulic ram, providing controlled mechanical force that the operator can apply progressively.
When used together with the Sykes Pickavant 08251900 Shock Handle, the forcing screw can convert the 1500-series hydraulic rams to fully mechanical operation. The shock handle features a sliding centre spindle that allows the operator to strike the end of the screw when the system is fully loaded, transmitting an impact pulse to the workpiece — a technique that is particularly effective at releasing stubborn taper fits and seized joints that resist steady pulling force.
