A hose joint that needs constant nipping up is telling you the clip, not the hose, is past it.
This is the 50-70mm size of the Hi-Grip worm drive range. Where cheaper clips cut their threads and leave sharp band edges, JCS rolls the screw threads for strength and fully rounds the band edges so the hose is protected as the clip bites. JCS publishes a recommended torque of 6.0 Nm (54 lb-in) for this size - seat the clip centrally on the barb and work up to it gradually. Hi-Grip exceeds BS5315 and holds BSI Kitemark and NATO approvals.
Sold as a carton of 5, this is the counter-and-toolbox format of JCS's general purpose clip - electro zinc plated and passivated mild steel, EN9227 tested, with the plating applied after cutting. Use it for automotive, domestic and industrial hose joints away from salt and standing moisture, sized by the fitted outside diameter of the hose.
Also available - the same clip as a retail carton (HGZ70RP); the same clip as a bulk pack (HGZ70BP); the 45-60mm size (HGZ60BG); the 60-80mm size (HGZ80BG).
The larger adjustment range per size means one JCS clip covers spans that would take two ordinary nut-and-bolt clamps.

A. It adjusts between 50-70mm. Measure the outside diameter of your hose when fitted over its pipe or fitting - if that measurement falls within 50-70mm, this clip fits. JCS clips offer a larger adjustment range per size than typical nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 1 15/16 to 2 3/4 in, covering common 2 and 2 1/2 in hose sizes.
A. For this size band JCS publishes a recommended torque of 6.0 Nm (54 lb-in). Work up to it gradually with the clip seated centrally on the barb; going past it risks damaging the hose rather than improving the seal.
A. JCS advises against zinc plated clips in marine conditions, where they can corrode or seize. For boats and other saltwater environments use Hi-Grip Stainless, which is 18/8 marine-quality 304 stainless steel with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.
