Soft hoses relax over time; a clip that cannot be re-tensioned simply lets the seal fade with them.
Worm drive clips seal by drawing the band evenly through a captive screw housing, and the HGZ50BG adds the JCS details that make that reliable - a 35-50mm adjustment span, a cold-headed, work-hardened hex screw with rolled threads that will not round off, and fully rounded band edges. Recommended tightening torque for this size is 6.0 Nm (54 lb-in). Manufactured to exceed BS5315, Kitemarked and NATO approved.
The band is mild steel, heavily electro zinc plated, passivated and tested to EN9227 - JCS's general purpose specification for domestic, automotive and industrial duty away from salt and standing moisture. One clip covers a wider span than a typical nut-and-bolt clamp, so fewer sizes cover more hoses. Seat it centrally over the barb when fitting.
Also available - the same clip as a retail carton (HGZ50RP); the same clip as a bulk pack (HGZ50BP); the 35-45mm size (HGZ45BG); the 40-55mm size (HGZ55BG).
Few clips at this level carry a Kitemark, NATO approval and 180-plus years of British manufacturing behind them.

A. This size spans 35-50mm of fitted hose outside diameter. Measure the hose over its fitting, not the bare bore - anywhere inside 35-50mm and the HGZ50BG is the right clip. One JCS size covers a span that would take two fixed nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 1 3/8 to 1 15/16 in, covering common 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 in hose sizes.
A. JCS recommends 6.0 Nm (54 lb-in) for this size. Position the clip centrally over the hose barb and tighten incrementally to that torque - over-tightening can damage the hose.
A. JCS electro zinc plates and passivates the mild steel band after it is cut to size, so even the cut edges carry coating - and the finish is tested to EN9227. That suits dry and general duty; once salt or standing moisture is involved, the stainless range is the correct specification.
A. JCS advises against zinc plated clips in marine conditions, where they can corrode or seize. For boats and other saltwater environments use Hi-Grip Stainless, which is 18/8 marine-quality 304 stainless steel with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.
