Tonnage on a floor press is chosen against the tightest interference fit rather than the largest component. A bearing pressed into an alloy housing needs far less than the same bearing in steel, and the press has to reach the higher figure with margin. Interference fit rather than component size is what the tonnage is actually working against.
The range here runs 15, 20, 30, 50, 75 and 100 tonne, and that span crosses from car work at the light end to plant and commercial at the top. A press two sizes above what is needed is not wasted; a press at its limit stalls partway through a job. Reaching the figure with margin also means the press is not working at its limit on every job.
Drive type changes how the load is applied. A hand hydraulic press is pumped, which gives feel and stops the moment pumping stops. A pneumatic hydraulic press drives from the air line, which applies far more force with less effort and is faster over repeated operations. Reading how often the press is used is what decides between hand and pneumatic drive.
Frame and bed set what fits. Daylight between the bed and the ram, and the position the bed can be set at, decide whether a component can be presented at all.
