Vertical or floor is the first decision and it is settled by how the vehicle is already supported. A vertical jack is tall and narrow and works under a vehicle raised on a lift. A floor jack is low and wide and works under a vehicle on stands, where a vertical body would not fit beneath it. It is also why the same capacity appears in two very different shaped machines on this leaf.
Getting that wrong means a jack that cannot reach the gearbox or one that will not go under the car, so it is decided before capacity is considered. Both forms are held at 1 tonne and 1.5 tonne so the choice does not restrict the rating available.
The saddle is what actually holds the casing, and a gearbox is an awkward shape with nothing flat to rest on. An adjustable saddle tilts and clamps to hold it steady while it is lowered, and free adaptors extend that to casings the standard saddle does not suit. Sealey hold floor jacks with adjustable saddles at 1 tonne and 1.5 tonne for exactly that reason.
Quick lift mechanisms raise the saddle to the casing rapidly and then switch to fine pumping for the last part, which saves a great deal of pumping on a vertical jack with long travel. Capacity runs 500kg, 600kg, 1 tonne and 1.5 tonne across the leaf. Questions go over WhatsApp on 07754288583.
