Removing and installing cabin spring shock absorbers on heavy trucks presents a serious challenge without the correct tooling standard compressors are not designed for this application and risk spring distortion or injury. The Sealey RE251 Shock Absorber Spring Compressor is purpose-built for truck cabin use, with applications including Volvo Trucks FM, FH 500P, and 540P. The safety yokes are carefully shaped to prevent the spring from bowing under compression, reducing the risk of sudden spring release. The tool is sized to suit springs with an internal diameter of 65mm and an external diameter of 89mm. It uses a 1/2" square drive, and torque must not exceed 80Nm the RE251 is not suitable for use with power tools. Always ensure the weight of the cab is correctly supported before use. The RE251 is compatible with the Sealey RE252 Shock Absorber Wrench, which is designed for easy removal of the shock absorber top nut, making both tools ideal for use together as a complete cabin shock absorber solution.
