Unlike an open-ended spanner, a flare nut spanner fits over the pipe and onto the nut, providing greater contact area to reduce the risk of rounding the soft fittings found on these systems. This Draper 16356 spanner covers two sizes — 14mm and 17mm — making it suitable for a range of pipe fittings encountered in automotive and workshop applications, including brake pipes and hydraulic lines. It is manufactured from chrome vanadium steel that has been hardened and tempered for strength and durability, then chrome plated to provide corrosion protection for long service life in workshop environments.
