Demolition and heavy-duty breaking tasks demand a hammer that can sustain repeated impact without transferring excessive stress to the user. The Estwing ESH-836W addresses this with a drop-forged head that has been induction hardened for durability, paired with a hickory shaft sourced from premium USA-imported timber. Hickory is chosen for its inherent mechanical properties: it acts as a natural shock absorber, working to minimise user fatigue, reduce vibration transmission through the handle, and enhance overall working efficiency during prolonged use. The combination of a hardened striking face and a shock-dampening shaft makes this hammer suited to sustained, repetitive impact work. This sledge hammer weighs 3.6 kg (8 lb) and is part of Estwing's dedicated series of hickory-shaft sledge hammers. The ESH-836W designation identifies this specific weight and shaft configuration within that range.
