Servicing brake calipers on heavy commercial vehicles requires tools designed to release the high-torque, often-corroded fixing screws encountered on truck and bus axles — conventional tooling either lacks the engagement profile or cannot transmit the impact force needed. The Govoni GO1312 is a slogging brake caliper wrench in E20 Torx profile, specifically designed for the assembly and disassembly of brake caliper fixing screws on the front and rear axles of heavy vehicles.
The slogging design is the defining feature: even seized fasteners are released by striking the end of the wrench with a hammer, transmitting an impact pulse to the fastener that breaks the corrosion bond. This is significantly more effective than the steady increase in torque applied by a conventional wrench, which often shears the fastener before releasing it.
The wrench is equipped with a 3/4 inch square drive, allowing it to be used with a torque wrench for controlled clamping in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. A torque conversion formula is laser-etched on the wrench — the formula must be applied because the lever extension of the slogging design alters the effective torque at the fastener.
A practical advantage of this tool is that it eliminates the need to remove the lever of the steering control tie rod, which conventional caliper tools often require for access — saving meaningful time on each service event.
