The OEM part number on the original component is the fastest match where available. For older equipment, identify by the heater model code (normally on a data plate) and the component position. Gas regulators and hoses are largely standardised by gas type and connection thread — propane regulators with standard butane-or-propane connectors fit most propane heaters, butane regulators fit most butane heaters. Always specify regulators rated for the gas type (propane, butane, natural gas — different operating pressures), the cylinder connection (UK BS standard, EU thread, etc.), and the hose length. Gas Safe Register-approved regulators and hoses are required for heaters in commercial and trade workshop service.
