Variations
Wide-opening panels in damp or salty environments suit the Metrol NS-SS-V-10-350. A 316 stainless variable force gas strut with a long 350mm stroke reaching 750mm. The chrome-plated 316 stainless rod and 316 body resist corrosion in damp, coastal and chemical settings while the 70–1200N force is set on assembly to suit the panel. Allow an extra 5mm on the body length compared with the steel equivalent. The strut works across −30°C to +80°C, is supplied at maximum force unless specified, and takes stainless end fittings on its rod. It is specified for fold-down benches, worktop flaps, toolbox lids, seat bases in damp, coastal, food-grade and wash-down settings. A stainless end fitting threads onto the rod and a stainless bracket carries the body end; the struts are fitted as a balanced pair so the panel lifts evenly while every exposed part shrugs off moisture and salt. Use stainless fittings and a stainless bracket to match, so the whole mounting stays rust-free. Within the range, its nearest strokes are NS-SS-V-10-300 and NS-SS-V-10-400; the SSMLT-10-350 stainless locking tube holds it open; a lower-cost steel version is available as NS-V-10-350. The strut carries a two-year guarantee, with custom strokes and forces available on request.
