The Metrol SSB11 is a 316 stainless steel ball joint end fitting with an M8 thread, a 25mm body and a 13mm ball. Threaded onto the strut rod, it snaps over a same-size ball stud on the mounting bracket, giving a joint that swivels as the panel moves. Its M8 thread suits a gas strut with a 10mm rod, and the 13mm ball clips onto SSBRK-4A, SSBRK-6A, SSBRK-6R-A, SSBRK-7A. The ball sits on a M8 stud 16.5mm long behind the 25mm body, threading into the bracket socket side. It is one of a family of end fittings that connect a strut to its mounting — a ball joint to swivel freely, an eye to hinge on a pin, a clevis to pin in line, or a rose eye to take up misalignment. Sized for a 10mm rod, the fitting is matched by thread to the strut and by size to the fixing. It is found on serving flaps, cabinet lids, access panels, inspection hatches and similar panels. Within the M8 range, its nearest sizes are SSB9, differing by body length; a steel version is available as B11. Machined from 316 stainless steel, it resists corrosion in outdoor and marine use.
