Worn or incompatible couplings are a common cause of air loss and unsafe disconnections on workshop airlines. The PCL SC21CM05 is a Safeflow safety coupling with a male R 1/4 thread, supplied display packed and manufactured in Sheffield since 1938 as part of the HORNGROUP family of brands. The Safeflow range builds on PCL's established Airflow coupling design with a two-stage self-venting release mechanism. The first press decompresses the line without disconnecting; the second press releases the nipple. This sequence eliminates hose whip — a recognised hazard when disconnecting pressurised airlines — and the coupling is manufactured in accordance with ISO 4414. The design is patented, and the robust steel construction carries a corrosion-resistant finish suited to continuous workshop use. The SC21CM05 fits the UK Standard PCL adaptor profile, making it compatible with most existing compressed-air equipment on the Airflow coupling footprint. Maximum working pressure is 14 bar. Flow capacity across the Safeflow range is stated at 1210 l/min. The coupling is available in additional thread forms and configurations; refer to the SC21CM parent range for the full selection of Safeflow male-thread variants (SC21CM).
