Q 1. How do I know whether the HGS16BG will fit my hose?

A. It adjusts between 11-16mm. Measure the outside diameter of your hose when fitted over its pipe or fitting - if that measurement falls within 11-16mm, this clip fits. JCS clips offer a larger adjustment range per size than typical nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 7/16 to 5/8 in, covering common 1/2 and 5/8 in hose sizes.

Q 2. What torque should the HGS16BG be tightened to?

A. For this size band JCS publishes a recommended torque of 3.0 Nm (26 lb-in). Work up to it gradually with the clip seated centrally on the barb; going past it risks damaging the hose rather than improving the seal.

Q 3. Is the screw stainless steel as well as the band?

A. No mixed metals here - band, housing and screw are all the same stainless grade, and JCS verifies that through salt mist testing. Cheaper clips often pair a stainless band with a plated screw, which is the part that fails first.

Q 4. Are these suited to water and drainage plant?

A. Yes - JCS stainless hose clips are used across water and drainage infrastructure, including pumping solutions, stormwater and overflow management, wastewater treatment and agricultural irrigation networks.

Q 5. 304 vs 316 - which grade do I need?

A. For most marine and wet industrial duty, this 304 (18/8) clip with its Lloyd's Register Type Approval is the standard answer. JCS reserves its 316 grade for the most demanding settings - offshore, food and pharmaceutical - so if that is your application, ask us about options.

Q 6. Do worm drive hose clips come loose over time?

A. JCS designs against it: the hex screw is cold-headed and work-hardened with rolled threads, so it holds its setting and will not round off. On high-vibration equipment, JCS's guidance is to recheck the clip after service to keep the seal intact.

Q 7. What does the HGS16BG pack contain?

A. This is a pack of 50 clips, all 11-16mm adjustment range. Other pack formats of the same clip are listed separately.

Q 8. What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

A. WhatsApp us on 07754 288583 with photos of the item and packaging.
