Large-bore hose joints carry more flow and more consequence - the clip sealing them is no place to economise.
Sized to adjust between 35-50mm, the HGZ50BP carries the construction details Hi-Grip is specified for - rolled screw threads on a cold-headed, work-hardened hex head, fully rounded band edges, and a published tightening torque of 6.0 Nm (54 lb-in) for this size band. The range is made to exceed BS5315 and holds the BSI Kitemark and NATO approval.
Boxed as 10 clips for stores and production use, it carries JCS's general purpose specification - electro zinc plated and passivated mild steel tested to EN9227. JCS supplies leading agricultural machinery manufacturers, and the same clips serve workshop, fleet and light industrial pipework. Size each joint by the fitted outside diameter of the hose.
Also available - the same clip as a retail carton (HGZ50RP); the same clip as a trade bag (HGZ50BG); the 35-45mm size (HGZ45BP); the 40-55mm size (HGZ55BP).
The larger adjustment range per size means one JCS clip covers spans that would take two ordinary nut-and-bolt clamps.
JCS recommends letting the application decide - what the hose carries, the temperature and pressure it sees, and how corrosive the environment is - then matching the clip's adjustment range to the fitted hose diameter.

A. It adjusts between 35-50mm. Measure the outside diameter of your hose when fitted over its pipe or fitting - if that measurement falls within 35-50mm, this clip fits. JCS clips offer a larger adjustment range per size than typical nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 1 3/8 to 1 15/16 in, covering common 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 in hose sizes.
A. For this size band JCS publishes a recommended torque of 6.0 Nm (54 lb-in). Work up to it gradually with the clip seated centrally on the barb; going past it risks damaging the hose rather than improving the seal.
A. JCS electro zinc plates and passivates the mild steel band after it is cut to size, so even the cut edges carry coating - and the finish is tested to EN9227. That suits dry and general duty; once salt or standing moisture is involved, the stainless range is the correct specification.
A. No - JCS itself cautions that zinc-coated clamps can quickly corrode or seize around salt water. The marine specification is Hi-Grip Stainless: 18/8 304 stainless throughout, with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.
