Variations
A leaking hose joint on a mower, compressor or van engine usually traces back to one part - the clip that stopped gripping.
This is the 35-45mm size of the Hi-Grip worm drive range. Where cheaper clips cut their threads and leave sharp band edges, JCS rolls the screw threads for strength and fully rounds the band edges so the hose is protected as the clip bites. JCS publishes a recommended torque of 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in) for this size - seat the clip centrally on the barb and work up to it gradually. Hi-Grip exceeds BS5315 and holds BSI Kitemark and NATO approvals.
Uniquely, JCS applies the zinc plating after the steel is cut, so even the cut edges of the band are coated. That makes it a dependable general purpose clip for domestic, automotive and industrial use in non-corrosive conditions. Size it by the fitted outside diameter of the hose, and recheck after sustained vibration - the 5-clip pack keeps spares on hand for the next service.

A. This size spans 35-45mm of fitted hose outside diameter. Measure the hose over its fitting, not the bare bore - anywhere inside 35-45mm and the HGZ45BG is the right clip. One JCS size covers a span that would take two fixed nut-and-bolt clamps. In imperial terms that is roughly 1 3/8 to 1 3/4 in, covering common 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 in hose sizes.
A. For this size band JCS publishes a recommended torque of 5.0 Nm (45 lb-in). Work up to it gradually with the clip seated centrally on the barb; going past it risks damaging the hose rather than improving the seal.
A. The band is heavily electro zinc plated and passivated, tested to EN9227, and JCS plates the steel after cutting so the cut edges are coated too. It is intended for non-corrosive environments such as domestic and light industrial use - for wet, salty or chemical-exposed duty choose the Hi-Grip Stainless version.
A. JCS advises against zinc plated clips in marine conditions, where they can corrode or seize. For boats and other saltwater environments use Hi-Grip Stainless, which is 18/8 marine-quality 304 stainless steel with Lloyd's Register Type Approval.
