A gravity drainer collects what falls with the plug out. A suction drainer draws oil up through the dipstick tube, so the plug never comes out and the undertray stays in place.

Gravity, on a large drain, because nothing limits the flow. Suction is faster overall where removing an undertray or reaching an awkward plug would take longer than the drain itself.

It sets how many vehicles are done before emptying. The range runs 8L on a portable drainer through to 90L and 110L on the workshop machines.

It empties itself under pressure into a container or tank rather than being tipped, which is far quicker and cleaner on a large tank.

A manual fluid extractor at 9L or a portable drainer at 8L, which cover a single vehicle without needing a workshop machine standing in the bay.

Yes, mobile and vacuum drainers are held, which are wheeled to the vehicle rather than the vehicle being brought to a fixed position over a drain.

Gravity and suction are two different ways of getting the oil out and they suit different situations. A gravity drainer sits under the sump with the plug removed and collects what falls. A suction drainer draws the oil up through the dipstick tube, which means the plug never comes out at all. Suction also leaves the plug and its washer undisturbed, which is one fewer thing to fail afterwards.

That distinction decides more than convenience. On a vehicle with an undertray or an awkward plug, suction removes the whole access problem. On a large drain where speed matters, gravity is faster because nothing is limiting the flow. Some machines do both, drawing by suction and also collecting by gravity into the same tank.

Tank capacity sets how many vehicles are done before emptying. The range runs 8L on a portable drainer through to 90L and 110L on the workshop machines, and a larger tank means fewer trips to the waste store rather than a faster drain. A chamber on a suction drainer lets the volume drawn be seen before it goes into the tank.

Discharge is the stage people forget. An air operated drainer empties itself under pressure into a container or a tank, which is far quicker than tipping. Manual extractors at 9L cover small volumes without a machine at all. Send the vehicles and volumes to 07754288583 on WhatsApp. Extensions and filling tools cover refilling a gearbox as well as draining one.
